23.12.2015 - 19:18:07 <anon> Maker of this pic says he has problem with culture that glorifies violence but that doesn't stop him from glorifying war himself. Hypocrisy on it's fullest.
23.12.2015 - 19:44:56 <anon> ^what makes you think he glorifies war?

04.06.2021 - 19:57:58 <anon> But Hip-Hop culture is reflective of black american culture in the sense that black people are socio-economically challenged and often in poor positions when it comes to personal advancement. Hip-hop and rap stem from this fact, it's originally politically charged protest music aimed as a form of social critique, allowing the voiceless to be heard.
04.06.2021 - 19:59:12 <anon> Ironically, it was ultimately capitalist record labels which banked on the wave of gangsta rap that made the once socially conscious genre of hip-hop into the 'violent' mainstream rap you are critizising, but which is also not reflective of hip-hop or the culture of urban poor black culture it stems from.
04.06.2021 - 20:00:46 <anon> Similarly, the people who exploit this seemingly violent genre of music for their own profit is the labels behind music media, which has traditionally been almost exclusively white owned, until the 'modern reneissance' of rap, which took place in the late 00's, after which the 'violent and vulgar' style of rap started to decline in mainstream rap.
04.06.2021 - 20:04:00 <anon> Basically this means, that the 'culture of violence' this picture is critizising is in itself a racist stereotype regarding American black culture. To add to this, the creator of the picture seems to value soldiers, the emblematic symptom of the military-industrial complex that is an inherently violent capitalist culture over the people they perceive as violent, who, ironically, have been verbally anti-violent when it comes to said capitalist culture.
04.06.2021 - 20:04:43 <anon> A closing statement: This picture is wrong, ignorant and ironically racist despite the attempts of the creator to make themselves seem racist.
04.06.2021 - 20:07:17 <anon> **last word should've been "anti-racist"**, sorry.
