ArchLinux is an annoying PITA to set up, and in some regards also to maintain, but Ubuntu is just a fat smoldering piece of bloated non-Linux-thinking-its-Linux. There are better choices if you insist on suffering from Linux on the desktop, like Mint. Or, just use OS X. Heck, or even Windows.
